Launch of the new book: Three views on the city

Thursday, 18th June 2026 was the long expected day of the launch of the book „Three views on the city“, held in the cultural centre BOD in Hraničná street, Bratislava.
The publication Three Views on the City is an authorial "trilogy on the city", which offers an interdisciplinary view of the phenomenon of urbanity from the perspective of an architect, spatial planner and psychologist.
The book by authors Matej Jaššo, Milan Husár (FM UK) and Michal Hajduk (STU graduate) explores the city as a complex social, spatial and cultural system - as a living organism and a symbolic text that says more about society than any other form of cultural production. The publication is conceived as a trilogy: thematic, authorial and application. The authors trace the genesis of urbanity, its historical layers and current transformations.
Using specific examples from historical cities such as Piran or Český Krumlov, through modernist experiments such as Brazil or New Belgrade, to contemporary global metropolises such as Hamburg, Dubai or Shanghai, they map various forms of urbanity and its significance in a changing world.
The publication also reflects current social challenges – polarization, fragmentation of public space or weakening of democratic values – while understanding the city as a space of dialogue, conflict and collective memory.
Three Views on the City is also a personal statement of the authors, emerging in a dialogue across disciplines and geographical contexts. The result is a book that will appeal not only to the professional public, but also to all those interested in the city as an everyday experience.
The book is published by the independent publishing house Salónik with editorial contributions from Zuzana Pastirčák Duchová and Kristína Soboň.
