On 10-11th May 2010, the Cultural Contact Point of Slovakia is organizing the conference „Image of the City“. More than 50 years after the legendary book of Kevin Lynch, the cities overcome immense process of transformation, which heavily influenced their identities and city images. Many examples of creative effort have been shown in recent years and many cities achieved remarkable results in terms of their marketing, presentation and visual imagery. The conference Image of The City would like to focus on the role of today’s cities as centres of production, culture or thinking. Spectra, Centre of Excellence will be represented by Matej Jaššo´s contribution on Urban Semiotics. The entire event is devoted to the 25^th anniversary of European Capital of Culture. Project ITMS 26240120002 SPECTRA+, Centre of Excellence for the Settlement Infrastructure Development of the Knowledge Based Society has been implemented since May 2009. This period was focused on the preparation of the contracting the 6 technological platforms for all 4 participating partners. STU Bratislava covered this process on behalf of all partners. The evaluation of public tender was made in July 2010, the legal agreement was signed in October 2010. Nowadays, the fullfilment of the contract is going on.

Ružomberok, the City in the Central Slovakia, was from 31st March till 2nd April 2011 the venue of the students project under the knickname „urbanET“. The project was prepared by the students of masters study of Spatial Planning at Institute of Management, STU Bratislava and the main idea of the project is to go beyond the limits of one epizodic workshop and to introduce a long term artistic-sociologic-community based initiative dealing with the phenomena of the city as a living organism and examining various approaches toward its contemporary existence.

On June 1^st, the „Metropolitan Development in Central Europe“ conference – the final event of the ESPON project POLYCE – took place at the Vienna University of Technology. In the morning political representatives of Bratislava, Ljubljana, Prague and Vienna gave a press conference about the development of Central European Capitals. In the afternoon POLYCE researchers presented their findings about metropolitan development. City representatives discussed recommendations for smart Central European Metropolises.

Spectra, Centre of Excellence and Institute of Management (where Spectra is based) will organise Day for Public. This event will be held on Thursday, 14th Februray 2013 in Spectra Centre in Bratislava (Vazovova 5, room 5-1, 5th floor) at 1.00 PM. The main goal of the event is to introduce the acredited study programmes of the Institute of Management, with special emphasis on Spatial planning. Showcases of the work of the current students will be included. We are looking forward to meet you at Spectra, Centre of Excellence.

SPECTRA - Centre of Excellence and CETIP Network  organized the first of the CETIP Network discussion seminars. Key topic was "Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in Spatial Planning". First lecture was given by Peter Barták, an independent consultant. The event was held on 18th February 2013 at 10.00 AM and venue was the SPECTRA, Centre of Excellence (Vazovova street 5, room 5-1).

SPECTRA - Centre of Excellence and CETIP Network  organized the CETIP Network discussion seminar. Key topic was "Social entrepreneurship: a new model of corporate governance? The lecture was given by Prof. Andrej Udovč, Associate professor from University of Ljubljana. The event was held on 3th June 2013 at 10.00 AM and venue was the SPECTRA, Centre of Excellence (Vazovova street 5, room 5-1).

SPECTRA Centre of Excellencie participates on Summer School:  "ADAPTIVE GOVERNANCE: SPATIAL, TEMPORAL AND CULTURAL CONSTRAINTS  AND OPPORTUNITIES". The Summer School – the 1^st Module – is hosted by EC Tempus Project No. 511390: Environmental Governance for Environmental Curricula at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and is organized in co-operation with the Centre for Transdisciplinary Study of Institutions, Evolutions and Policies (CETIP) in Bratislava, Slovakia, Centre for Excellence Spectra+ in Bratislava, Slovakia and other partners´ organisations (University J. E. Purkyně, Ústí n. L., Czech Republic Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, Regional Environmental Centre, Slovakia and Bratislava City Hall, Slovakia).

SPECTRA Centre of Excellence of EU - Slovak Academy of Sciences -Institute of Forest Ecology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and CzechGlobe -Global Change Research Centre, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic will organize International Colloquium "Ecosystem services: Adaptive EU policies for future EU regions".
